Modern Art Dock 5 Wedding | Lindsey & Will
When Lindsey and I first met, we immediately connected on her plans for making her wedding different and unconventional. I remember at one point in our initial meeting she called me her “spirit animal.” It was love at first sight on my part too :).
Lindsey, an artist and Will, a business-development manager at a tech company opted to shy away from the usual DC photo ops like the monuments. For her wedding, she wanted it to be more about the people than sense of place. So in one of our meetings with her planner, Andre Wells, Lindsey suggested a gray seamless backdrop (a la Annie Leibovitz style) at her Dock 5 wedding. I was immediately inspired by the fashion forward setup that awaited this wedding.

Golden hour happened during cocktail hour, so I snuck away with the couple for these rooftop portraits. I scouted before and found the aeroponic garden to be the perfect backdrop that complimented the couple’s reception decor inspired by the Perez Art Museum in Miami. Amaryllis brought the vision to life perfecty. There were certainly gasps as guests entered the immaculate designed reception.
Lindsey painted portraits of she and will as a queen and a king. A rendering of the portraits were placed on the menus for each guest.
With the dance party in full effect, the DJ announced a special treat for the guest and a surprise to Will - Lindsey had arranged for UCB - Uncalled 4 Band - a highlight of the DC go-go music scene, and Will’s favorite band in high school to perform.
